Low Lights

Formed especially for this gig, Low Lights are made up of friends and family from other bands.  Chris and Jonny (Progress 5) from Newcastle, Chris (Lead guitar) has been a keen guitarist for a number of years. His two main influences are Johnny Marr and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. One of Chris’s claims to fame is that he once supported Glen Tilbrook from Squeeze at a local festival. Jonny Ranson (Vocals and Ukulele) was weaned on an eclectic diet of folk music and Talking Heads. He has an unhealthy obsession with ukuleles but isn’t sure that technically qualifies him as a proper musician. After a few solo gigs around the Newcastle comedy circuit he now focuses his attention on singing whatever songs are put in front of him. Glenn, Alastair and Neil from Chalkface (Doncaster, Pontefract and Chesterfield).  Glenn Blackett (Bass and backing vocals) became a live music fan after seeing The Smiths in 1983. He regularly attends gigs and festivals countrywide. Musical heroes include Kirk Brandon, Ian McCulloch, David Gedge and Johnny Marr. Neil Cairns (Drums) takes his drumming style from Stewart Copeland (The Police) and Larry Mullen (U2). Neil also plays drums in another band called ‘The Players’ and Keyboards in ‘Electric Dreams’. Alastair Bacon (Lead Guitar) has been writing his own material for a number of years and his guitar heroes include Nick McCabe (The Verve), Jason Pierce (Spiritualized) and Syd  Barrett. Completing the lineup is Geoff (Rhythm guitar) from Biffin’s Bridge Collective.
